How to locate HCMI and HWMI Calculators on the BeCause platform

HCMI is a methodology and accompanying Excel tool, which was developed by the hospitality industry to calculate and communicate the carbon footprint of hotel stays and meetings in a consistent and transparent way. The methodology covers all GHG emissions resulting from activities within their premises (known as scope 1 and 2 emissions) and, if applicable, from outsourced laundry operations (scope 3 emissions). It applies the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard at the hotel property level to serve as hotel sector guidance.

The Hotel Water Measurement Initiative (HWMI) is a methodology to calculate the amount of water used per occupied room (and per guest night, where data are available) and per area of meeting space per hour. This methodology and calculation tool was developed to enable hotel companies and individual properties to measure and report on water withdrawal in a consistent way.

1. Go to your left sidebar and open up Data Collection --> Calculators.

2. Click "Create Calculator" on the calculator that you want to fill.

3. Fill in the name of your Calculator, select either "Yearly" or "Monthly" and click "Create".

4. Remember to read and follow the Instructions.

5. Every subject marked in red needs to be filled in to export the results. When the subject is no longer red, then the subject has been answered.

6. When you edit your calculation, remember to save your data.
